As a Professional Accounting/Tax Technician, this apprenticeship programme will allow you to build on your existing knowledge of accountancy from your Level 3 apprenticeship, or other accountancy qualification.

What will you learn?

You will have responsibility for creating, verifying and reviewing, accurate and timely financial information meeting the relevant ethical, professional and legal standards. You will utilise your knowledge of the business systems and processes, as well as standard accounting and tax practices. This role may exist in an accounting practice, a professional services company, HMRC or the accounting function of a business or other organisation.

This apprenticeship will provide you with the technical skills and knowledge needed to create and maintain financial statements for limited companies, preparing, reporting and monitoring budgets, analysing and controlling financial performance, personal and business taxation and implementing and improving internal controls and processes.

How will you learn?

Our Personal Tutors will deliver high-quality face-to-face learning and coaching and provide all the resources you will need to progress quickly. Our intuitive learner management system ‘Bud’ will really bring the subject to life through interactive learning tools, access to complementary online resources and relevant social communities, as well as provide real-time information so that you will always know where you’re at in your learner journey.

Your pathway to success

Becoming a Professional Accounting/Tax Technician will give you coverage of two areas of specialism, accounting and tax. You will be on a fast track to be a competent Professional Accounting/Tax Technician, on completion of the apprenticeship Standard.

The natural progression after completion of this apprenticeship is towards a leadership apprenticeship or a higher-level ACCA Accountancy apprenticeship.

Do I have to find a job first?

If you’re not currently employed or looking for a new job, you can apply for apprenticeship vacancies advertised by employers looking to employ an apprentice, as you must be employed to undertake an apprenticeship.

If you already have a job and wish to gain a qualification in that industry as an apprentice, this is possible subject to your employer’s agreement.

Will it cost me anything?

No. Your employer pays your wage and we apply for government funding from the Education and Skills Funding Agency to support the cost of your qualification.
Currently 100% funding is available for apprentices ages 16 – 18 and 90% for those aged 19 + (subject to the employers levy status).

Can I undertake an Apprenticeship with my current employer?
