Who is the apprenticeship for?

Due to the constant development of the hair and beauty industry, there’s always a demand for hair and beauty workers with more and more opportunities becoming available all the time.

What will you learn?

This apprenticeship has been developed to provide professional hairdressing skills and give you an understanding of current policies and processes.

You’ll learn hands-on skills including how to shampoo and condition hair, cut hair using a range of techniques, style & finish to create a variety of looks as well as colour & lighten hair.

How will you learn?

Our Personal Tutors will deliver high-quality face-to-face learning and coaching and provide all the resources you will need to progress quickly. Our intuitive learner management system ‘Bud’ will really bring the subject to life through interactive learning tools, access to complementary online resources and relevant social communities, as well as provide real-time information so that you will always know where you’re at in your learner journey.

Your pathway to success

Once you have completed your Hairdressing Level 2 apprenticeship, you will have gained all the basic hairdressing skills required to get recognised and progress in this exciting industry.

There is a wide range of options available to you following your apprenticeship, for example, you could work in a salon, own your own salon, be self-employed and rent a room at a salon or work mobile, go out to people’s homes or work in exciting settings like on a cruise ship. FAQs

Do I have to find a job first?

If you’re not currently employed or looking for a new job, you can apply for apprenticeship vacancies advertised by employers looking to employ an apprentice, as you must be employed to undertake an apprenticeship.

If you already have a job and wish to gain a qualification in that industry as an apprentice, this is possible subject to your employer’s agreement.

Will it cost me anything?

No. Your employer pays your wage and we apply for government funding from the Education and Skills Funding Agency to support the cost of your qualification.
Currently 100% funding is available for apprentices ages 16 – 18 and 90% for those aged 19 + (subject to the employers levy status).

Can I undertake an Apprenticeship with my current employer?
