I wanted to gain a qualification in care and an apprenticeship is helping me work towards becoming senior and eventually going into the nursing profession.
The apprenticeship has highlighted my strengths which allows me to apply the knowledge and skills I have learned into the role. My Personal Tutor has supported me throughout, helping me to understand the meaning behind different terms and has helped me to develop my timekeeping and communication.
I work with individuals with dementia and the apprenticeship has given me the knowledge and understanding to support them compassionately and with patience. My confidence has improved and I am happy to share my knowledge with my team.
During COVID19 I am proud to be part of a team that have had no cases. The knowledge and skills have helped me to ensure correct policies and procedures regards to infection are followed.
I am very proud to have passed the end-point discussion on my first attempt and was surprised at how confident I felt both before and after the appointment. I have had the chance to show my compassion on a couple of occasions, one was recently when a resident had passed away, I followed the mark of respect where staff form a chain either side of the doorway as the person leaves the building with the undertakers, which was a really touching moment for the whole team.
