When our company merged, it gave me the opportunity to be a Manager for the first time. With little experience, I thought by doing this apprenticeship it would help provide the tools to learn how to be a great manager and leader to my team.
Since starting the apprenticeship, I now find that I look at things differently. It has equipped me with the mindset to analyse my team and to approach and deal with a range of circumstances differently, thinking things through in a logical manner.
As I am working from home at the moment due to COVID-19 current situation, I am working hard to plan my time effectively and blocking out my diary when I need to focus on my apprenticeship programme. I have still managed to complete some work shadowing with different departments which helps me in my day to day job and to progress with my apprenticeship.
My Personal Tutor, Laura, is great and always on hand to support me. When I submit work, she marks it and provides feedback really quickly. The support from Optivo has been brilliant. They support me by allowing me to spend time working on my apprenticeship and to carry out research. I am due to finish my programme in December 2020, and I am already considering enrolling on the Operational/Departmental Manager Level 5 programme with Paragon Skills.
Initially, I was undecided on whether to do the apprenticeship or not, but now I am really pleased I decided to do it.
