Good administrators are vital to the smooth and efficient running of all areas of business, in organisations of all sizes, from large government departments to small private companies.
If you are methodical and enjoy working with people, Business and Administration could be for you.
Jobs are likely to be based in offices and involve work ranging from office organisation and clerical duties to secretarial and receptionist tasks.
What will I learn?
Your Apprenticeship will enable you to achieve an NVQ Level 2 in Business and Administration, gaining skills such as:
- Processing information using databases and spreadsheets
- Producing documents
- Issuing stock items
- Communicating information.
You will gain:
- A Technical Certificate from City and Guilds
- Functional Skills such as Communication, Application of Number and Information Technology
- You will also receive training in Health and Safety and how the law applies to you at work.
An Advanced Apprenticeship will enable you to achieve an NVQ Level 3 in Business and Administration, with skills such as:
- Co-ordinating administrative services
- Making payments
- Supporting business meetings
- Team leading.
How will I be trained?
Most of your training will be in your workplace with your employer and you may also either attend training sessions at a training centre or use open learning workbooks for your underpinning knowledge. We will observe you at work where you will carry out most of your assessments, and we will support you with assignments and discussions.
What about the future?
A Business and Administration Apprenticeship will provide a solid foundation for progressing into other positions such as:
- Human Resources
Administrators can work in a wide range of organisations with the chance to specialise in areas they particularly like, such as travel and estate agency. There are many opportunities for progression, with administrators moving up the ladder to become supervisors, executives and office managers.
