Full time: Introduction to MIG, TIG Welding and Thermal Cutting

To introduce the metal arc gas shielded and tungsten arc gas shielded welding processes with tutored, hands on experience of producing common welded joints.
City & Guilds Certificate will only be for 1 specialist welding choice

What will be covered

• General safety aspects of electric welding processes and identification of the
• associated equipment.
• The principles of the processes of the associated equipment.
• The assembly of associated equipment and common equipment defects.
• Identification of controls, settings of equipment and process variables.
• Identification and demonstrations of basic welded joints for their assembly, tacking,
• pre-setting and welding techniques in common weld positions.
• Introduction to basic welding techniques with individual development.
• Development of the practical skills and techniques in the assembly procedures and
• weld joints and positions producing butt, fillet, outside corner and lap welds.
• Identify common defects found in MIG and TIG welds, their causes and rectification
• methods.
• Use of associated equipment, use of powered guillotine and common associated
• tools.
• Other Joining techniques i.e. Soldering, Gas Welding and Spot Welding
• Thermal Cutting with Gas Equipment

Duration

4 Day Intensive Course, Optional addition City & Guilds Certification (Level 1 or Level 2) This certification could add a day to your course. (Total of 5 days with accreditation)

Certification

There is continual assessment throughout the course and successful participants are awarded a Paragon Skills for Industry certificate of attendance.

Cost

£430 + VAT per person (4 day Course)
£540 + VAT per person with City & Guilds certificate (5 Day Course)
