American Boat & Yacht Council Electrical Course

The ABYC Electrical Certification Program has been designed to help prepare participants to sit for the 200-question certification exam.

Who will benefit:

Participants should be familiar with ABYC electrical standards. Upon registration each student will be sent a study guide, which should be reviewed and studied extensively in conjunction with ABYC standards.

Entry requirements:

Those wishing to become ABYC certified technicians. This course is designed for the experienced technician with at least 3-5 years working with marine electrical systems.

Course Aims:

The course will cover the following:

  • Electrical Theory
  • Lead-Acid Batteries
  • Using a Multi-meter
  • Battery Testing
  • Generator Sets
  • Inverters
  • Grounding and Bonding Systems
  • Troubleshooting
  • 200 Question Certification Test

Progression:

ABYC Electrical certificate will be awarded upon passing the final exam. Further ABYC courses in refrigeration are available.

Duration:

4 days

Courses are subject to minimum number participation. Bespoke training is available in all courses subject to agreement
