Hairdressing NVQ Level 1
Practical and theory assessments are used to determine and confirm candidate progress and competence set against the national standards, looking at basic practical skills such as shampooing, conditioning and assisting with colouring and perming. Reception duties, salon housekeeping and Health and Safety related units are also included.

The course is aimed at anyone wishing to gain a nationally recognised qualification.
Entry requirements:
Participants will need to be working as a salon assistant, with good communication skills and a strong interest in the fashion industry. They will need to be highly motivated and artistically minded.
Course Aims:
To prepare participants for a career in hairdressing by introducing them to a wide range of hairdressing activities such as:
- Introduction to hairdressing services
- Personal presentation in the salon
- Reception duties
- Basic perming and colouring
- Hair industry and occupational awareness
Progression:
On completing this qualification, participants will become competent salon juniors and able to carry out basic support for stylists within the salon.
