Makaton Enhancement MVDP Stages 5 - 8
The Foundation and Enhancement workshops provide training for professionals relevant to their work and together develop the necessary competencies. It is recommended that professionals attend both parts.
Who will benefit:
Recommended for professionals who require a more detailed level of knowledge and skill and who wish to be able to develop the communication skills of others. Also an essential part of entry criteria for Makaton Regional Tutor Training.
Entry requirements:
Participants must have completed the Foundation workshop.
Course Aims:
The Enhancement workshop concentrates on improving and developing participants’ own signing skills and translation skills using signs and symbols. Signs and symbols for stages 5-8 are taught. Practical sessions are supported by lectures that look in-depth at the users’ needs, how to adapt communication to suit, and how to identify and create opportunities through Makaton for the user to develop his or her communication skills and be better integrated into the community.

Duration:
3 days or 6 × 3 hour modules.
Courses are subject to minimum number participation. Bespoke training is available in all courses subject to agreement
