Young people aspiring for a career in the beauty industry should hurry along to the new Aspire hair and beauty academy in Boscombe, Bournemouth.
Aspire, operated by Paragon Skills for Industry, offers one year apprenticeships in beauty therapy and nail services using the latest equipment and Dermologica products. The centre at Sea Road has also been successfully running hairdressing and barbering apprenticeships from the centre for many years.
By training in one year, learners’ gain their qualification quicker and employers benefit by employing an apprentice who can deliver treatments sooner.
Christina Conn, Operational Manager for Beauty Therapy at Paragon Skills, explained: “Our facility is equipped to offer training for small classes of 12 learners with a luxurious and tranquil spa-like feel. This will replicate a working environment, with the aim of giving learners the best possible start to their career in the beauty therapy industry. “
The beauty and nail therapy apprenticeship on offer at Aspire includes learning the techniques and skills associated with:
• improving and maintaining facial skin condition;
• providing eyelash and eyebrow treatments;
• removing hair using waxing techniques;
• providing pedicure treatment; and
• providing manicure treatment.
Christina added: “There are a wide range of skills to learn on the different apprenticeships available, giving young people as much choice as possible within the industry. We also hope to expand the range of apprenticeships by the end of the year to include level three beauty therapy massage. This can lead on to careers in world renowned salons and spas.”
Both the hair and beauty salons are open to the public for treatments.
